The sets of habits that you perform when you wake up are referred to as morning routines. When you wake up, the things you do can affect your level of productivity for the entire day. Some people have the habit of reading, while others have unhealthy morning routines. When you have healthy habits, it can help you manage the day’s stress and anxiety levels. If you have an unhealthy habit, it is time to cultivate a new one.
In today’s post, we shall be sharing tips with you on how you can make a happier start for each day. How you start your day determines how it ends. Then, why not read this post till the end and discover how you can make the best out of your day by utilising your morning.
Avoid your phone.
When people wake up, their phones remain the first thing they reach out for. Some people prefer to be in bed while they scroll through every page on social media. Engaging in this activity before you fully start your day is unhealthy. Before you realise it, the time is gone, and you are yet to achieve anything worthwhile. Scrolling through social media news isn’t a bad idea, but it shouldn’t be the first thing you do once you wake up.
Make your bed.
Once you make your bed in the morning, you will feel fulfilled. You need to try it for you to feel it. Making your bed is never a waste of time. You need to keep your room neat, which isn’t complete if you don’t arrange your bed. Making your bed means you are ready to start the day in an organised manner. The first task for the day remains to make your bed. If you don’t do this, you are yet to accomplish the first task for the day. At the end of the day, you are coming home to lie in a neat and well-made bed which helps to relieve stress.
Stretch your body.
Keeping fit can be easier if you stretch your body daily. If you have the luxury of time, you can consider going for a walk or do simple exercise. While on it, listening to music or podcasts isn’t a bad idea. It means that you are killing two birds with one stone. If you don’t want to leave your house, you can do some stretching right in your bedroom. A simple stretch will help to wake up the organs in your body, and blood will easily flow to other parts of the body. Stretch gently, and don’t forget to drink water to avoid dehydration. A glass of clean water in the morning will help to encourage you to stay hydrated throughout the day.
Have a to-do list.
There is usually a lot to achieve everyday. Most times, we end up achieving very little compared to what we are capable of doing. Get a notepad and a pen; write down all you want to accomplish for the day in its order of importance. It helps if you prioritise; you can consider writing the most tedious task first. This plan will help you get started. When it is midday, you can always go back and check to see if you were able to achieve what you wanted to in the morning. If you fail to strategise your morning, you may go through the whole day doing nothing.
Eat a healthy breakfast.
It is essential to have something light within the first hour of waking up. This will help you to feel energetic, and it stimulates your metabolism. Consider making your breakfast at home, don’t order processed foods. Foods in their natural state are a healthier option to start the day with. Junk food won’t give your body the fuel to survive the day’s stress. They add to your body weight, and in no time, you will put on unexpected weight. Starting the day with proper eating habits cannot be overemphasised.
Bonus.
Try self-affirmation.
We all need the self-confidence to survive the day. It will be a good thing to add self-affirmation to the list of things you do in the morning. You are all that you have got. Why not say positive things to yourself? Nobody will do this for you because everyone is busy fixing one or two things in their life. Counter all the feelings of negativity by affirming positive things out loud. Positive affirmation includes “I am worthy”, “I am capable”, “Today will be a productive day”, and more. You can have yours and customise it according to your desire.
You don’t need to have the same morning routine as others. It is okay for yours to be different. What is important is for it to be healthy. It should lead you to a better result. At the end of each day, ensure that you hold yourself accountable for how you spend your day. This will help you decide if you are to maintain your morning routines or not. Morning routines are as crucial as the foundation of your home. This is because every other thing you do for the day is built on this. It doesn’t have to be something complex. It could be taking a walk or drinking a glass of water. For some, they kick start their day by having a heavy session in the gym. Morning routines are usually designed according to an individual’s needs.
