Detoxification is one of the essential processes in the human body system. It’s no doubt that there will always be residuals from daily metabolism going on in our body, some of which are toxic to our health. So the question of how we get these toxins out of our body is when detoxification comes in.
When the topic of detoxification is mentioned, what comes to the mind of some people are the detox foods and drinks they sometimes try. They are absolutely right. But detoxification is not limited to that. It involves the daily process by which our body is channelled to eliminate toxins by itself with the help of specific organs. In this article, we want to discuss detoxification, why it’s important and how you can enhance your body’s daily detoxification process for optimum health.
What Detoxification Is All About
Detoxification is the complex process of metabolising toxic compounds for the purpose of getting them out of the body. It involves several organs such as liver, kidney, intestine skin as well as a respiratory, lymphatic and digestive system, with each organ working every day to eliminate one or more specific toxins. The evidence of the existence of this process is the sweat, urine and other waste products that we excrete from our body from time to time every single day. This also shows that detoxification is not a once in a while thing but a day-to-day process going on in our body to free us from elements that can be dangerous to our health.
We can categorise the overall process into three consecutive stages. The first stage is where the compound is made to dissolve in water or fat, depending on the one in which it’s soluble. This is where it’s prepared for the second stage, which is elimination and then to the third stage, where it’s excreted through urine or bowel movement in the case of fat-soluble compounds.
Why You Need To Aid the Detoxification Process
On a typical day where everything stays natural the way it should be, detoxification requires no support because our body system has the pathway in place for the process to run smoothly. However, things have changed in this modern world. We are now surrounded by toxic materials more than ever before. This condition affects the natural and normal processes and makes detoxification stressful for the body.
When we have an environment with an increasing amount of toxic materials like plastics, metals and so on, we don’t expect anything more than ingesting more toxins into our body. Does this imply anything? Yes, it does. It means that the organs and systems responsible for freeing our body from toxins will have more work to do to detoxify us of those toxins. If this continues without control, then we may have more toxins in our food, air, water and so on, all of which can be detrimental to our health in the long run. These are the reasons why some people’s detoxification pathway may not be as effective and optimal as it should be. Fortunately, there are ways you can structure your lifestyle to aid and improve detoxification in your body. We explained some of them below.
How To Enhance Detoxification In Your Body
As mentioned earlier, there’s now the need for everyone to start doing those things that will step up and improve the detoxification pathway and process in their body so that the organs and systems responsible for it will be able to perform at optimum level. Here are some of those ways.
- Limit exposure to toxins
Toxins are harmful to our health, which is why they must always be eliminated and excreted out of our bodies. Even though we may not be able to prevent the existence of toxins totally, we can reduce our exposure to them. This way, your detox organs will be doing less work and eventually be able to work perfectly. You can limit exposure to toxins by opting for fresh organically made food instead of processed and packaged foods, filters to separate toxins from your water and air and avoiding plastic as much as you can.
- Eat and drink adequately
The phrase “you’re what you eat” also has a place of fact here. Like every other organ in our body, detox organs require some nutrients to keep running efficiently. A lack of one or more of these nutrients can result in disruption in performance. So, one of the best things you can do to enhance your detoxification process is to eat and drink enough healthy foods that will provide your body with the required nutrients for sustenance and, more significantly, detoxification.
- Exercise
We all know that exercise is one of the best ways to maintain sound health while you enjoy your life. It also works specifically to aid detoxification by getting the pathways to keep running smoothly and loading your body with antioxidants that can defend you against the rising environmental pollution of the modern world.
Our body detoxification process now needs an extra hand more than ever before as a result of the environmental pollution we deal with on a daily basis. You can aid detoxify your body by exercising, eating good foods, and keeping yourself away from toxins as much as you can.
