Life isn’t a race – it’s a marathon!
As most of you probably know, we, at the Healthy Life Side are firm believers in steady changes. Not only are they much more comfortable to get started with, but they’re easier to stick to as well! Give yourself time to adapt instead of blindly rushing forward, and you’ll be much happier with yourself.
This line of thoughts is what inspired us to create this list!
Our list contains 31 new things that you can try – one per day. All of these things are quick, easy, and, best of all – positive!
Within 1 month, you will know which of these things you enjoy, and you can start implementing them in your life. Take all the things that you like going forward and make a habit out of them!
Day 1 – Write down 5 things you like about yourself!
Starting off on a positive note, write down the Five things that you love about yourself the most.
These can be anything from features and accomplishments to positive traits that you have.
Day 2 – Eat less than 25 grams of added sugar.
A lot of people overindulge on sugar and snacks. The WHO (World Health Organisation) recommends staying under 25g of sugar per day. Today, try remaining within their suggested limit.
Day 3 – Try a new workout.
When it comes to working out, variety is key. Getting bored and burning out is the last thing you’d want! Today, try and find some new exercises. Check out the link below for great fitness gear for working out at home!
Day 4 – Do some stretching!
Stretching is great! If you don’t already stretch on a daily basis, give it a shot.
Keep in mind, however, that you won’t be nearly as flexible as what you see on video tutorials, so take it slow! Stretching should never, ever, be rushed – that’s a shortcut to injury.
Day 5 – Find some healthy cooking recipes!
Do a quick search and find yourself a new healthy cookbook
Day 6 – Try a recipe out of your new cookbook.
Now that you’ve chosen your cookbook take a few minutes and find a yummy recipe to prepare. Pick something new and easy to make.
Day 7 – Organise your workspace.
As most of you know by now, we’re huge fans of organisation. This day is your chance to try and see if this lifestyle is for you.
Day 8 – Declutter your purse, backpack or handbag.
Go through your bag and make sure that you’re only carrying what you need.
Day 9 – Try some herbal tea.
Take a healthy tea break with a brand or flavour that you haven’t tasted before. And while we’re on the subject of healthy drinking, you should consider switching to stainless steel canisters and bottles. Try out our reusable water bottle suggestion!
Day 10 – Have a no-spend day.
Avoid spending money, even on snacks or coffee.
Day 11 – Check up on old contacts.
Connecting with people that you care about is vital to leading a happier life. Not only is it fun, but it can be beneficial for your career as well!
Day 12 – Set up the dinner table nicely and eat mindfully.
Try setting up the table and eating in a relaxed and mindful manner. Don’t eat in front of the TV and put your phone on silent. Just focus on the here and the now.
Day 13 – Make a list of fun activities and do one today.
Spend a minute on the internet and find some new fun activities. Pick one at random and give it a shot!
Day 14 – Try a new spice in your cooking.
A lot of spices have tons of health benefits – antioxidants, vitamins, minerals – you name it! Consult your cookbook.
Day 15 – Make a list of people who inspire you.
Write down the names of some people that you look up to, and list your reasons for why that is.
Day 16 – Declutter the drawers.
Go through your drawers, getting rid of anything that doesn’t provide you value.
Day 17 – Write down some easy meal combinations.
Sit down and note 5 quick and easy meals that you like. Next time you’re left wondering what to cook, you’ll have five great ideas waiting for you!
Day 18 – Complete a random act of kindness.
Pick someone in your life and do something nice for them.
Day 19 – Toss out all expired beauty products.
Expired skin care and beauty products can turn into a den of allergens and bacteria. Do yourself a favour and get rid of them.
Day 20 – Do a digital detox.
Take a day off, and completely disconnect yourself from the Internet, Social Media and the TV.
Day 21 – Try a no-meat day.
I’m not trying to say that meat is evil and you should avoid it at all costs. Just give it a shot and see how you feel about it after of focus on the fruits and veggies.
Day 22 – Try meditation for 5-10 minutes.
Meditation is excellent at combating stress and anxiety. Sit down, steady your breathing and focus on the here and the now for a bit.
Day 23 – Declutter your phone.
Clean up your phone from useless apps, change your wallpaper and organise your files.
Day 24 – Try a new healthy dessert
As with the meals – this doesn’t need to be complicated. Try something new and simple, using healthy ingredients.
Day 25 – Write down 3 books you want to read this year

Day 26 – Go for a long walk in nature
Depending on the weather, you can feel free to swap this day around. Just relax and appreciate nature’s beauty.
Day 27 – Clean your pillow

Day 28 – Try a green smoothie
If you’ve never tried a green smoothie before, now’s your chance! If you have green smoothies regularly, try a new recipe.
Day 29 – Find and get rid of 5 things in your home that you don’t need

Day 30 – Write down what you’re most grateful for in life
Set aside a couple of minutes and write 5-10 things that you’re thankful for.
Day 31 – Find your motivational quote
Ending the month on a positive note is essential! Find something that you really like and relate to. Print it out or write it down and keep it around.
