One of the saddest facts is that most of us harm our brains daily with some of our attitudes, and we are not aware of it. Sometimes many people think it is only by drinking and smoking that the brain can be affected, however, have we considered those things we see as insignificant yet they damage the brains? Follow through this article to find out more.
Being idle is one of the ways you can harm your brain. The major reason for this is that the brain is programmed to be active in many ways. The best ways to put it into use are by challenging it with thoughts, learning new skills, brainstorming, new puzzles, reading, having conversations, and lots more. To get the best of your brain, use it by reading and learning some things you are not familiar with. This is because it has positive impacts on the cognitive capacities
Mobile Tech And The Social Media
These mobile gadgets such as laptops, phones, and others are good technological developments that are very useful for everyone. As good as these things look, they have many negative sides because the more you are addicted to your screens by using many social media platforms that keep you in a place for a long time, the more damage you do to your brain. Most times, you are unaware of the level of damage you do to your brain. This is because there is a direct link between the connection to your screen and depression. Many of the things we spend our time viewing or doing online are not wholesome; therefore, they make us have negative stimuli, damage our sights, impair our thinking and the functions of the brain, thereby resulting in serious problems. The best approach to use these gadgets and social media is by setting limits because too much of everything causes harms
Enjoying Sedentary Lifestyle
Almost everyone loves resting and relaxing. However, it has many negative effects on the brain as well as physical health if you sit for hours. When individuals sit for long periods, they are always prone to having lower back pain, neck pain, and many more. To avoid these, it is best to put the body under intense exercise. It doesn’t have to be rigorous for those that are not up to it. However, it must be done from time to time to make the body healthy. You can take a daily routine walk, skipping, jumping, or strolling; these make the brain get back its function and help balance up with the moment you might spend sitting down.
The Level Of The Sugar You Consume
These days, many people, including the young ones, always prefer to consume foods laced with high sugar or sweeteners. However, have you for once considered the harmful sides of these appealing things? Sugar, when consumed beyond reasonable amounts, can slow down the functions of our brains. Memory can be hindered, thereby making the retention of information very difficult. Another thing about the intake of sugar or sweeteners is that it keeps the cravings higher and demands more because they quickly digest and induce hunger. By doing so, you become an addict and slowly damage the functionality of your brains. Replace sugar with good foods such as whole grains, nuts, veggies, seafood, dark chocolate, healthy fats, omega three foods, fruits, and other wholesome foods safe for the brain.
The Importance Of Drinking Water
Water is life, and it connects to many positive things in the well-being of every individual. The moment you take less water, you become so dehydrated, and the body functions are affected. This has nothing to do with eating wholesome foods. Water has a major role in determining the health of individuals. Therefore, it is important to drink at least two litres of water in a day. First thing before eating in the morning and subsequent times before the day ends. This helps the brain to stay healthy and be able to function in its default capacity. Much more, you become healthier when you take ionized water. The resultant effect can’t be overemphasized. I plead with you to check our previous content on (ionized water) kangen water to see the wonders it does.
Keep Wholesome Company
Having good human relationships with great people is also important for healthy brain functionality. Human beings are naturally made to interact within their social environment. Therefore, we need to build a positive relationship with people, especially physical ones. Although social media is good for building social relationships, the connection might not be as real as having friends in reality. When human relationships are maintained, each person’s brain functions at its best state. No matter how choked our daily activities might look, it is best to interact with people to keep us healthy and functional.
Your Sleep And You
Lack of sleep is one of the most detrimental to our health. This happens especially in a highly concentrated society where survival is competitive. Many people hardly sleep for 6 hours a day. As a result of this, they easily lack focus and attention to what they do to some extent. When you do not sleep well, and it turns out to be your normal lifestyle, you are on your way to having dementia, Alzheimer’s, or brain shrinking in some cases, damage of brain cells, and other diseases. To curb these, you need to sleep for at least 6 hours a day, go to bed early, take a nap during the day if possible. This keeps your brain fit and helps you to function in your best state.
These days, many people have become addicted to music. Not that music is bad. Music is good because it is the soul’s food and teaches many lessons apart from its entertainment power. However, it can damage the brain when the noise level is high, especially if headphones are not well controlled. People who live in cities are prone to listening to loud blasting of music sounds from speakers, thereby causing harm to the brain and the reduction of cognitive capacities. To control this, make sure your speakers are on a reasonable sound level, do not put on your earphones for long, and control the sound level.
Your brain is you, and any damages that are done to it come back directly at you. This is the reason you should protect it at all costs from malfunctioning. Thank you for reading this post. You can also check out our previous blogs such as “Diets To Improve Your Brain Health“.
