Fluoride and Filtration
How bad is fluoride for you? Should you be worried about the upcoming changes? Can filtered water protect you from potential side effects?
So, the UK’s Chief Medical Officers have decided to add fluoride to the drinking water because they want to fight tooth decay. Personally, I find this very saddening. And, yes, I know that the UK struggles with tooth decay and that fluoride is often cited as the easiest and most straightforward way to combat that.
However, I believe that there’s plenty of other ways to alleviate the problem, primarily by promoting healthier diets and lifestyles. The whole fluoride issue has been a hot topic in the health and wellness sphere for decades, and studies are supporting both sides. It’s really easy to dismiss the potential for dangers by saying, “oh, it doesn’t account for such and such factors”, but in reality, the same can also be said about the whole tooth decay situation.
Because there are thousands of things that can cause tooth decay, very few of which are hereditary. Or, in other words, the usual cause is simply poor oral hygiene, lack of care, and/or access to information. However, this sort of solution would probably require more time, effort, and resources to be implemented. And, of course, you’ve also got the part where people actually have to want to follow the information. So, I guess we’re stuck with the fluoride in our tap water.
Luckily there is a solution, and it’s also relatively simple. Now, if you’ve been following my content for any length of time, you already know what I’m going to say here, but this is important, so please bear with me. And if you’re new, this might come as a shocker (though I really hope it doesn’t). So, here goes:
You don’t have to drink water directly from the tap!
You can just get yourself a water filter or a purifier, and you don’t have to worry about contaminants. Yes, it’s that simple. Of course, it does come with an extra step or two, where you need to find a good brand, you’ve got to set everything up just right, and you’ve got to get used to it. But it’s well worth the hassle (if you can even call it that). I’ve been doing this for years, and I’ve never regretted my decision.
And this is also the case with most people in the wellness community. It shouldn’t come as a surprise because, at this point, it’s not even all that revolutionary of an idea. Just think about it for a second – pretty much everything around us is affected by pollution, including the air that you’re breathing at this moment. So, if you had the option to limit your exposure, why not do it? The way I see it, this is just the most logical thing to do.
I’ve stopped using plastics because they’re harmful to me and to the environment. I’ve limited my consumption and embraced minimalism. I don’t buy cleaning products from the store and make my own at home instead. And this exact same principle also applies to water.
And, if you’re short on money, don’t worry because there are plenty of perfectly affordable and robust water filtration systems on the market. You can just go on Amazon or any other big online marketplace and grab one for your home in a matter of minutes.
That’s precisely what I did when I first got into eco-friendliness. You see, I’ve never liked the idea of drinking tap water. Actually, no, scratch that – I can’t stand tap water. Since I come from a small village in the Bulgarian countryside where everyone had access to clean spring water, I never had to worry about tap water in my youth. It was only after I came to the UK that I ran into this problem. And I still remember how our tour guide warned us that we shouldn’t drink from the tap, because it’s nothing like back home.
At the time, my go-to solution was buying bottled water. I didn’t really know much about eco-friendliness back then, so I wasn’t overly worried about plastic bottles and such. I eventually switched away from plastics to glass, but that was just a temporary solution. It was only after I got into health and wellness that I seriously considered a water filtration system. And let me tell you – it made a world of difference.
I didn’t have to worry about going to the store or stockpiling water at home, and I was also able to cut down on my expenses by a bit. Because, even though you don’t notice it, the cost of those bottles definitely adds up.
Getting a water filtration system for your home is a long-term solution, which helps you:
- Decrease your carbon footprint
- Cut out plastics and plastic-related chemicals from your life
- Limit your exposure to contaminants in the water supply
- Save money in the long run
- Drinking more water is easier (filtered water really does taste different!)
- Improve your overall quality of life
Taking it a step further with Ionised Water
For a lot of people, simple water filtering is enough. They just grab a device, decide that they like the taste, and call it a day. But it turns out that there are ways to make your water even healthier.
So, I spent some months trying out different purifiers, but I still couldn’t get the water to taste the way it did back at home. I mean, it was certainly an improvement, but I wanted something better, so I kept looking. And just as I was about to give up on the search, I was invited to a water-related presentation by one of my employees. I was vaguely familiar with the company hosting it because I had seen their stuff in the past, but that was before I got interested in eco-friendliness, so I decided I should give them another shot.
And that right there, friends, was one of the best decisions that I’ve ever made. This ionization device turned out to be just the thing that I was looking for. It didn’t take long for me to make a purchase, and I haven’t looked back since. I got one device for my home, one for each of my offices, and a couple for my relatives back at home.
If you aren’t familiar with Alkaline Water and you’re wondering what’s so special about it, here’s a quick breakdown:
It’s rich in hydrogen and helps fight oxidation
The “modern” diet is chock-full of oxidants, which opens the door to a whole host of problems, from skin problems, diabetes, and chronic inflammation to arthritis, cardiovascular problems, and even cancer.
It’s easier to absorb due to its unique molecular structure
It’s much easier to drink than any other type of water that I’ve found since I arrived in the UK. I struggled with drinking even the bare minimum of water per day, but now I’ve got no issues with getting my fill.
It’s great for the skin
Oxidation is terrible for the skin, and it makes you look older than you really are. Proper hydration plus antioxidants are the keys to looking and feeling younger.
It’s super eco-friendly
Unlike bottles, it doesn’t add to my carbon footprint, and it’s 100% safe for my family and the environment.
It’s multifunctional
No, really. The devices can produce water with varying acidity levels, which are optimal for specific tasks. I use it for just about everything at home, from cleaning and washing to cooking and even beauty procedures. And, obviously, drinking and brewing tea and coffee for when I’ve got friends over (I don’t drink coffee).
If you want to learn more about alkaline water, check out my other blogs. I’ve got a bunch of blogs on my platform and even an entire page dedicated to my experience with it. Or, if you prefer, you can always drop me a line, and I’ll be more than happy to point you in the right direction.
Stay hydrated! We drink ionised water.
